All Guilds Meeting - March 2016

It's the beginning of a new month, so of course that means a traditional All Guilds Meeting to help start things off properly!  If you missed part or all of it, we have the usual raw and cleansed chatlogs, as well as a handy summary:

Guild of Writers

Hoikas was first to talk about the next version of Korman, the newest plugin for Age building and exporting.  Version 0.04 will have, amongst other new features, the ability to export sounds.  It will be released in a couple of weeks in parallel with Blender 2.77, the latest version of that software as well.  Due to important changes and upgrades, starting with 0.04, Korman will only work with Blender 2.77 or above, so Blender 2.74 will no longer be needed after that.

Mister Magic

Michel, aka Mister Magic, announced a new series of events utilizing the lighting effects of explorer Yoda, dubbed "The Magical Fireworks Tour (MFT)".  Every Thursday starting at 13:00 KI time, you'll be able to see fireworks in Magic Bot's magic version of the Ages. Lees meer

Korman 0.03 Released

The latest version of the next-generation Age building plugin, dubbed Korman, has been released to the public.  There have been many additions to this Blender plugin, and it is catching up fast with PyPRP as far as options.

Some key changes include:

  • Added a half-baked Plasma Light panel
  • Added Link To Age Node
  • Added option to export kAlphaTestHigh for draw order phailures
  • Added Soft Volumes
  • Added Visibility Regions and Effect Visibility Sets
  • Fixed a bug in which meshes would be exported as lamps
  • Fixed an infinite recursion bug with parented objects
  • Fixed a Python traceback in the Water wind settings
  • Improved alpha texture "ADD" blend mode

Installation is relatively easy.  Note that to use the plugin, it is assumed you have at least a basic knowledge of Blender and its workings.  There are also a few handy tutorials you can use to start building your own Age.  Note that the newest options have not been documented yet, but that will change soon.

A big congratulations to the many programmers who have contributed!  Keep checking back for further news on Korman and all things Age development related!

Memory Lane - Part 3 Event Game

Zesty and Kirk of Xeniphers, with the help of Mister Magic, have organized part 3 of the Memory Lane event-game, called "Mission Im-Possible".

If you are interested in playing, you can send Zesty or Kirk a KI message in-game or post in the MYST forum.

Event Info:

Date: Saturday, 23rd January 2016
Time: 12:00 - 13:00 KI
Starting point: Kirel, community room
Conditions:

  1. Ability to see markers, all ages finished, normal client or skydiving client. no combo or double jumps required (suitable for new players who have taken all green and red markers).
  2. Using internal clients or Magic Bots is NOT allowed!
  3. Playing in teams is allowed and even encouraged, but with a maximum of 4 players. If you wish to play in a team, please provide all your teammates' KI numbers and avatar names.

Five minutes before 12:00, the game will be distributed to all participants, who will then open it at exactly 12:00 KI, and when the word is given, everyone will start.

This is a simple game; everything that you need to know is written on the markers. Players will have one hour to finish the game and send a private message to Zesty.

NOTE: All those that played the 'Memory Lane Quest, Part 1' and are still playing Part 2 are warmly encouraged to participate. If you haven't played Part 1 and/or Part 2, don't worry - you can still play Part 3; they are not strictly connected. Those that have played the first 2 parts will have no advantage over those that haven't. Lees meer

All Guilds Meeting - November 2015

As things get closer to 2016, another All Guilds Meeting has come and gone.  Nev'yn was the guest host for the day, filling in for Doobes.  As always, the raw and (very) cleansed chatlogs await those who may have missed the meeting.

Here's a recap of the festivities:

Guild of Linguists

KathAveara was first in line to update the crowd on GoLing business.  The website has received a revamp and refresh, and while not completely finished, it will be soon.  Those with forum accounts have had them ported over to the new forums.

There are also plans to restart the Rekorokh Deseekaytee, or the Book of Puzzles.  Each week or month (depending on interest), there would be a new word or logic puzzle relating to the Myst/D'ni universe.  Joining the Guild forums will allow members to post and suggest their own puzzle for inclusion.

Zeke365

Next up was Zeke, who thanked those involved in organizing the very successful CAVCON Awareness Party.  He talked a bit about the newly-created Developers' Hood, a place for experts to gather and explain to those interested just what goes into making and programming content for URU.  Membership in the hood is open to anyone interested. All Guilds Meeting - September 2015

It's back to school for some, back to work for others, and back to the cavern for September's All Guilds Meeting.  Things were delayed a bit to accomodate Doobes' admittedly weird schedule, but the meeting itself went off without a hitch.

Thanks to Korov'ev and Tai'lahr, we have your raw and cleansed chatlogs ready to go!

Also, here's a handy summary:

CAVCON Awareness Party

As has been done in previous years, some very caring and crafty explorers are planning to organize a big event to bring the importance of the CAVCON to the forefront...and to just have a great time in the cavern.

Deirdre, Zeke365, Patricio and maggie696 are behind this year's efforts, and the party is tentatively scheduled for October 10th.  More details will be figured out over September, with a full announcement at the next AGM (October 3rd).  Stay tuned here and at the MOUL Events forum!
